The beginning

After 40 years in the security industry, founder Bob Hoult met the developer of the first lone worker device in the UK. Recognising its potential to revolutionise safety for Australian lone workers, Bob and his wife Coral were inspired to bring this groundbreaking technology to Australia, marking the start of SafeTCard.

First lone worker device in Australia

SafeTCard introduced Australia's first lone worker safety device, setting a new standard in personal protection. A standout feature was the innovative RIP alarm: if an aggressor attempted to remove the device, the lanyard would release a pin, instantly triggering a red alert to ensure immediate assistance.

Best New Product Award

SafeTCard’s 2G 106 lone worker device, the first of its kind in Australia, was honoured with the 'Best New Product' award at the Security Exhibition and Conference in 2010, recognising its innovative approach to personal safety and protection.

2012

Product upgrade

SafeTCard launched the enhanced S108 2G series, building on the success of its predecessor with improved features and reliability, further advancing safety for lone workers across Australia.

2015

3G launch

SafeTCard expanded its product range with the introduction of the S109 Series, the first in a line of advanced 3G devices. This launch marked a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and reliability for lone worker safety.

New leadership, continuing the legacy

Dean Hoult took over the leadership of SafeTCard, stepping into a role deeply rooted in the company’s history. Following in his father Bob Hoult's footsteps, Dean committed to carrying forward the strong legacy of innovation and dedication to lone worker safety.

2017

2G shutdown and new launch

In response to the 2G network shutdown, SafeTCard launched the U Series. These new devices were significantly smaller and lighter, reflecting the technological advancements in the industry, while continuing to provide top-tier safety for lone workers.

2018

Product launch

SafeTCard unveiled the S109U Series, continuing its tradition of innovation by introducing this latest upgrade in the line of 3G devices, offering even more advanced features and enhanced safety for lone workers.

2020

Launch of our own device

As Australia, a leader in telecommunications, announced the phasing out of 3G, the UK, where our previous devices were sourced, decided to continue with 2G, leaving no immediate 4G solution for Australia. In response, the SafeTCard team spent the next 12 months designing and producing a 4G replacement device tailored specifically for Australian conditions. This new device, which also worked on the 3G network until its phase-out in 2024, was more robust and eliminated unnecessary alerts not relevant to Australian users, ensuring continued protection for lone workers across the country.

2020

Companion launch

SafeTCard introduced the 4G Companion, a discreet FOB-style device, into its product range. Despite its compact size, the Companion offers all the features of the 4G ID device, making it ideal for situations where a more covert safety solution is required. Easily concealed in a pocket or handbag, the Companion provides robust protection without sacrificing functionality, ensuring lone workers remain safe and connected.

Antimicrobial devices

As the Covid-19 pandemic swept across the globe, SafeTCard took proactive measures to enhance safety by introducing an antimicrobial feature to the 4G ID device. Unlike simple coatings that wear off over time, this antimicrobial protection was integrated directly into the plastics during molding, ensuring long-lasting effectiveness. This innovation provided an additional layer of protection for users, reinforcing our commitment to safety during a critical time.

July 2021

Expansion

SafeTCard completed and certified its state-of-the-art head office and security complex, featuring our own Grade A1 Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Dissatisfied with the service from third-party monitoring centers, we built Valour Security, Australia’s first purpose-built ARC in decades. Committed to data security, we adhere to the Privacy Act and Data Sovereignty, ensuring all data is stored on-site in North Queensland, with no international storage or monitoring.

New unique features

We rolled out an annual upgrade to our devices, introducing multiple new alerts and alarms that can be updated remotely via SMS. These enhancements include features like WiFi, Bluetooth, and Yellow Recording, providing our clients with more robust and versatile safety solutions.

Runner-up for 'Best New Alarm'

At the 2022 Australian Security Industry Awards, SafeTCard's commitment to innovation was recognized when our alarm was named Runner-Up for Best New Alarm in Australia. As a finalist for Product of the Year - Alarm, our device was the only lone worker solution to receive this distinction, underscoring our dedication to providing industry-leading safety solutions.
